The Banking & Capital Markets Assurance business unit has, and is, growing rapidly: from NCR of £101m and 61 partners and directors in FY12 to budgeted NCR of £130m and 83 partners and directors in FY15. Further growth is anticipated in the business unit as part of the FSRR investment approved by the Executive Board. B&CM; is now the largest business unit in Assurance in terms of revenue and margin and is the first large business unit to have become 50:50 Audit : Non Audit.
The Finance Manager will work predominately within our RA business in close partnership with the Finance Leader, other members of the Finance Team and Business UnitLeadership in providing commercial business unit decision support. The Finance Manager will have the opportunity to develop the skill-set required for future progression, if desired.
About the roleMain areas of responsibility

Business strategy & strategic planning
• Working predominately within our RA business, you will be working closely with the Finance Leader to provide input into the preparation of the financial aspects of the business plan. • Supports the Finance Leader, working closely with the Business Unit Leadership, other members of the B&CM; Finance Team and other functional representatives to provide input into the preparation of the financial aspects of both the current and longer term business plan. Helps identify, develop and prioritise delivery of the firm's strategic and operational financial objectives within the business unit.
Budgeting & forecasting

• Responsible for preparation of the RA part of the business unit annual budget and forecasts in line with centrally defined guidelines, liaising with and gathering input from all appropriate sources across RA, applying market, industry and firm knowledge for Finance Leader review.
Performance management & improvement
• Responsible for drafting the interpretation of the monthly financial results and provision of insightful commentary to the Finance Leader. Able to interpret and communicate results of business performance. • Employs strong business analysis skills to identify underlying business issues from financial data and trends. Proposes and discusses actions with the Finance Leader and supports implementation to address areas of poor performance. • Responsible for understanding and monitoring working capital position and influencing RA to improve. • Supporting the Finance Leader in analysing key metrics and seeking profit/margin improvement opportunities. • Supporting the Finance Leader in the implementation of One Firm or LoS specific financial performance improvement initiatives. • Offering pricing support to non priority client proposals / local business unit engagements. • Providing input to financial awareness training to CSS. • Dealing with queries from internal and external audit teams.
Financial control & compliance

• Works in close partnership with the Financial Control centre of excellence to encourage a culture of strong financial discipline and adoption of One Firm financial policies and procedures within the business unit. • Reviews completion of controls work performed by Financial Control/Finance Executive and follows up any exceptions accordingly, identifying and escalating any significant issues. • Ensuring local financial risk knowledge is shared with the Financial Control centre of excellence. • Analysis and understanding of directly controllable business unit costs • Ensuring local intelligence is gathered and communicated to the FC centre of excellence in line with agreed guidelines
People Management
• Jointly responsible for the mentoring and development of the Finance Executive, More specifically • Personal development • Supporting the development of the wider finance community • Builds and maintains a high performing, motivated and well networked local finance team • Actively encouraging and supporting Cycles of Experience
