What are my responsibilities?
• To lead, manage and coach a team of ER and ER & Change Specialists in the provision of a professional and comprehensive self service and telephone based HR support (including Case Management) and the delivery of HR change activities and interventions that require business knowledge and face-to-face support.
• Manager of a team of ER and ER & Change specialists covering multiple businesses. No budgetary responsibility. The ER & Change Lead could also be responsible for delivery of an operational caseload.
• ER & Change Mgr, HR Change Consultants, GSS Service Lines, end users including line managers, employees, HR BPs and external organisations i.e. EEF
• Line manages a geographically dispersed team of HR professionals, establish and maintain effective management processes whilst ensuring all activity being delivered is captured and managed in C-Ontact.
• Leads the team of ER Specialists in providing advice and support to managers on the full range of employee relations issues (inc conduct, capability, ill health, absence, grievance, maternity etc) to ensure that legal and policy requirements are adhered to.
• Optimises deployment of ER & Change specialist resource across the supported businesses to ensure the professional/timely delivery of HR change activities and interventions, to meet business needs.
• Qualifies demand and allocates it to available resources to provide seamless support to the business. This would also involve liaising with other Leads to maximise team utilisation.
• Following qualification, liaises with ER &Change; Mgr for the allocation of large/ change complex activities to HR Change Consultants
• To ensure consistent support and advice is given to managers on appropriate steps to be taken in organisational change, including consultation, timescales and issues around redundancy and redeployment to ensure that legal and policy requirements are adhered to.
• Monitors trends in activity and makes recommendations for change to improve efficiency in service
• Able to deliver an operational case load and lead the implementation of change activities in accordance with the ER & Change specialist role description.
• Maintain an up to date working knowledge of Employment Legislation, customer requirements and GSS HRS environment, sharing knowledge and experience across the team.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
• Experience of managing a team of HR Professionals
• Expert understanding of HR Policies and procedures, employment legislation including implications of TUPE
• Proficient user of Microsoft Software, including Outlook; Excel; Power Point; Word
• SAP HR, C-Ontact
• Coaching and Mentoring
• Extensive operation/employee relations experience in HR. Experience of a HR Shared Service Environment is preferable. Sound understanding of HR Policies and procedures, employment legislation including implications of TUPE is expected.
• Experience in delivering HR change activities.
• Full CIPD or relevant experience.
• Experience in delivering change activities applying a project management approach.
Experience of process improvements within a HR function.
• Experience of managing a team of HR professionals. Excellent interpersonal skills inc negotiation/ conciliation, influencing/ persuasion etc.
• Experience of working in a customer facing environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent employment law knowledge, evidence of managing a caseload of complex casework, experience of working in a complex organisational structure and an ability to lead your team to achieve greater efficiency in a changing organisation are all important to this role. For this role you must be a Chartered Member of CIPD or equivalent experience. The role may require travel across the UK.
