Corporate Tax/Private Business - Senior Manager - AberdeenReference TX02931Location AberdeenService TaxSpecialism Corporate TaxIndustry ScotlandWho we are looking forWe are looking to appoint a new Private Business Tax Senior Manager who will cover a wide range of privately-owned, entrepreneurial, family business and private-equity backed clients. The successful candidate will be encouraged to shape and actively manage their own career development through involvement in a broad variety of work, particularly driving business development activities alongside a the broader PwC cross-tax and cross discipline private business team.
The Private Business practice is one of the fastest growing areas of PwC's business and therefore offers room for progression to the right candidate. We have a large and impressive client base and have a highly motivated team of people providing these services.
One of the advantages of working in the team is that the work is very varied and team members are encouraged to develop both deep specialism and skills across different specialisms. Candidates will be offered interesting high quality challenging work.
We are looking for a self-starter who has experience of managing and coaching junior team members as well as being out in the market in direct contact with clients and contacts. You should be a team player, someone prepared to assist colleagues with a range of tasks if required and to maintain the team's excellent service to clients at all times. You must be able to prioritise workloads efficiently to cope with high volumes of work to deadlines and meet the changing needs of clients. A good level of commercial awareness and financial management is required. Business development skills are also a priority along with an astute commercial acumen.
About the roleResponsibilities include:
• Manage a challenging and varied client portfolio.
• • Leading and driving business development activities both in respect of their own client base and out in the market.
• The emphasis and majority of the work is tax planning projects and ad-hoc advisory work. This is likely to include income and capital taxes issues and planning; demergers, refinancing and restructuring; international structuring (including liaising with team specialists on areas such as transfer pricing and in different territories), a good working knowledge of private client shareholder/management tax issues and pre/post-transaction tax planning.
• Helping to growth and develop the private business team including taking the lead in the support and development of more junior staff - sharing knowledge and expertise through team working and actively managing individual work-streams.
• Taking a lead role in managing the client relationship - managing and controlling deliverables and deadlines and project finances. This may involve some element of oversight of tax return compliance, although the preparations of returns are outsourced to specialist teams.
• Front line involvement in new business generation including problem solving for business/client specific ideas and solutions; involvement in networking events, proposal meetings and marketing seminars; and managing introductions to other parts of the firm e.g. Legal, Deals, VAT, HR Services.
Requirements EEEssential skills needed for the role:
• ACA/CTA qualified or equivalent experience (legal or accountancy qualifications).
• You will have strong tax advisory experience and may potentially come from a mixed tax background.
• Experience of working with a wide variety of private business clients is essential.
• UK Tax knowledge is essential.
• Excellent knowledge of income and capital taxes particularly from the corporate standpoint but also a working knowledge of the private client aspects.
• Excellent client handling skills and team working skills.
• A desire to lead in business development and help grow the practice in the local marketplace.
• You must have people management and project management experience.
