PwC's Consulting Practice has ambitious growth plans. The Operations Performance Improvement (OPI) sub competency within our Operations competency is at the heart of this growth.
Our team work off an enormously strong client platform with substantial growth plans and strong board level commitment to this. We can offer a broad position to successful applications including some cross sector work and some international assignments. Our experienced team have an excellent track record of delivering high quality work to major international clients and has ambitious yet attainable growth plans over the next few years.
We categorise our operations performance improvement skills through four key platforms, which to some degree we would expect all our people to have a working knowledge of, and work towards specialism in one or more areas. We would anticipate Managers would have good experience in one or more of these areas already:
1. Operations analytics:
a. Experience of identifying/implementing Key Performance Indicators and balanced scorecards to improve operational performance
b. Creating a baseline to monitor project improvements
c. Able to conduct diagnostic reviews to identify opportunities for improvement
d. Experience of benchmarking
2. Operational cost reduction:
The application of tools and techniques to aid consistent and emotion-free analysis of cost reduction targets, for example, Zero Based Budgeting.
3. Lean:
The application of Lean thinking, combined with a proven transformation approach and programme management methodology, is providing opportunities to deliver client value in non-traditional Lean heartlands.
The PwC approach to Lean has three main facets:
a. Use Lean to deliver client value by fixing business issues
b. Build sustainable client side Lean capability
c. Fundamentally change the way people work
4. Process improvement: The application of standard process design and improvement techniques, including effective implementation of process changes in operational environments.
Reporting to Senior Managers, Directors or Partners, you will lead a team of Senior Associates and Associates in delivering smaller client projects or work-streams on larger programmes of work. You will also play an important internal role in driving our consulting development programmes forward, imparting your skills and ways of thinking to others.

Due to the PwC Consulting's ambitious growth plans, the Operations Performance Improvement (OPI) sub competency within Operations is looking to recruit Consultants to support and manage projects. Our people in this sub-competency are experienced process and performance improvement consultants, using a range of analytics and improvement techniques to improve our clients' front office or operational performance.
You will be playing a key role as part of a highly skilled, specialist team within a wider group of operations and consulting professionals. At the same time, you will be encouraged to initiate and develop new ideas. Our highly motivated team have an excellent track record of delivering high quality work to major national and international clients and has ambitious growth plans for the next few years.
As a national team you may be based at any of PwC's offices around the country but will be expected to travel on a regular basis to our clients locations all over the UK and abroad.

The following skills are required for this role:
Essential skills:
Educated to degree level or equivalent
Experienced process improvement practitioner
Demonstrable experience of tools and techniques, ways of working and their applications
Previous experience of working in a consulting environment
Ability to translate performance improvement benefits into financial business outcomes
Ability to lead, implement and sustain performance improvement work-streams (on larger programmes) or projects, including leading and directing teams, owning discreet deliverables
Ability to be pragmatic, resilient and innovative in problem solving and issue resolution
Demonstrates experience in thinking strategically and holistically about enterprise wide client issues, backed by analytical skills examining all aspects of people, process, structure and technology related implications
Strong personal ownership and highly delivery focused
Strong leadership and influencing skills
Able to build and sustain trusted internal and external relationships
Client focussed and commercially astute
Project management
Compliant with professional standards
Able to develop self and others

Strong Excel, PowerPoint and report writing skills
Desirable skills for this role:
Application of your experience within one or more of the following sectors: Financial Sectors (especially Capital Markets), Industrial Products, Oil & Gas, Utilities & Nuclear, Health, Pharmaceuticals and Government & Public Sector
