In response to strong business growth, PwC's Consulting practice is currently recruiting Managers into its Operational Finance Consulting team
Our Consulting Practice
Our consulting teams co-ordinate on a global basis, delivering bespoke solutions to our clients to meet the needs of ever changing financial, business, market and regulatory environments. We help organisations design and implement their business strategies by consulting with them to build effective organisations, reduce costs, manage risk and leverage talent.

Our Consulting practice delivers innovative business transformation projects across a wide range of industries, including:
• Financial Services (FS): Retail and Commercial Banking, Capital markets, Insurance (General and Life & Pensions) and Investment Management;
• Public & Private sector (P&PS;): Consumer and Industrial Products & Services, Pharmaceuticals, Government and Public Sector, Telecoms, Technology, Media & Entertainment and Energy & Utilities.
Finance Consulting
Our Finance Consulting group provides knowledge and experience to enable the Finance Department to respond to the changing needs and expectations of the business and to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of finance operations whilst addressing the ever-increasing challenges of new regulatory requirements. We provide full lifecycle support to CFO's on Finance function redesign including advising on optimal organisation, process and systems design and providing end-to-end support for subsequent implementation.
We help clients with a diverse range of issues which include:
• Assessing and improving the role, organisation and effectiveness of finance functions;
• Delivering on a Shared Services or outsourcing agenda, including set-up, design and implementation;
• Finance function strategy and design, including assessing and improving key finance processes;
• Implementing or optimising their investment in Enterprise Resource Planning;
• Working to implement and improve Enterprise Performance Management processes;
• Developing feasibility studies and business cases
• Developing business models;
• Supporting cost reduction exercises, with robust benefit realisation plans;
• Embedding regulatory change;
• Optimising Corporate Treasury;
• Benchmarking the finance function;
• Finance IT strategy.
The Operational Finance Consulting team
Within the Finance Consulting practice, the Operational Finance team focuses on supporting clients, across all sectors, in the following areas :
• Developing Finance vision and strategy;
• Assessing and improving the role, organisation and effectiveness of finance functions;
• Designing and implementing the target operating model (TOM);
• Feasibility studies for multi-functional shared service centres;
• Implementing and optimising shared service centres;
• Outsourcing advisory services from strategy through to execution;
• Scoping and delivering sustainable cost reduction;
• Process design and optimisation.

About the Role
As a Manager you are expected to primarily work on client engagements, contributing to and leading finance change projects ('delivery'), although you will also spend time supporting the development of operational finance solutions ('development'). As a member of the Finance Consulting Group you will be closely working with and reporting into Senior Manager, Director and Partner Grades.
In particular you will be expected to be responsible for:
• Successfully managing projects with PwC and client teams;
• The quality and timeliness of project deliverables;
• The sustainability of project benefits;
• Managing the project economics through on-going review and communication with the project team;
• Providing general advice to clients on core areas of Operational Finance;
• Identifying further service opportunities, while client side, based on good understanding of the client's needs, combined with a knowledge of PwC's capabilities.
• Contributing to our continued thought leadership around Finance function design, processes, policies, strategy, governance, reporting and systems
• Supporting on business development activities, leveraging our strong existing client relationships, multi-disciplined colleagues and intellectual collateral to develop appropriate solutions to assist clients;
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with senior staff at our key clients.
Need to travel/overnight stays away from home (Yes - regularly)
We require experienced and credible individuals who have the technical skills and experience in order to demonstrate that they have:
• Managed change projects or single workstreams within complex change projects;
• Led and developed teams of people;
• Ability in stakeholder management and relationship building;
• Supported the development of solutions to Finance function challenges in the following areas:
• Shared Service Centres / Outsourcing
• Process redesign
• Cost reduction solutions such as systems implementations to automate processes
• Operating Model, including business partnership roles;
• Previous experience in senior positions either in Finance Departments or consulting to them;
• Education to degree level plus either formal accounting qualification or equivalent understanding of accounting principles.
• Good understanding and knowledge of the finance function and the key issues and challenges;
• Understanding of back office transformation approaches outside of pure finance such as HR, IT or Procurement transformation
• Used a Lean approach to process / cost optimisation;
• Used benchmarking techniques and data.
