Job Category: EngineeringSiemens Rail Automation (SRA) is seeking to appoint a senior Qualified Civil Engineer to its growing Wales and Western portfolio.
As well as acting as the Civil Engineering expert and undertaking the duties of CRE, the successful candidate will also have responsibility for managing the delivery of Civil engineering works on a number of projects ensuring delivery of the works safely, on time and to budget.
SRA is seeking a delivery manager who can manage sub-contractors and or self-delivery and has the ability to build a team of competent resources to meet project needs. The individual will drive performance, outputs, standards on the ground and, in particular, on the pre planning to ensure that pre-requisite documentation, plant, labour, and material requirements are all in place to optimise delivery.
The successful candidate will be a key member of the Portfolio Team, who will give support to the delivery teams from the planning stage, through the project life-cycle to help minimise costs and create constructible solutions for delivery.
What are my responsibilites?
• Undertake the full CRE duties for Civil Engineering work within the portfolio
• Accountable for the delivery of civil engineering work packages to quality, time and budget
• Responsible for ensuring key interfaces are planned, integrated and maintained across all disciplines to ensure successful delivery of work packages
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers, including the Project Manager, Field Operations staff, Project Engineering Manager, Tester in Charge, external client and 3rd party contractors
• Support the Construction Managers in setting up and delivering the Civil Engineering elements of the projects
• Ensure that all materials, plant and labour requirements are planned and in place
• Grow and maintain the key interface with supply chain to ensure that all resources are ordered and in place to maximise efficiencies
• Ensure that all plant and resources have relevant competencies and certification
• Ensures that all required paperwork, Task Briefs, Work Package Plans and SSOW are in place and briefed out
• Assist with the development of contract specific specifications and documents to enable the purchase and process of materials, sub contracts and resources
• To be the final authority on civil engineering issues
• To ensure that all design meets customer specifications, safety regulations and design standards
• Supporting Project Managers to develop and manage project plans
• Assist Tender and Estimating Department in bid preparation and with support during client negotiations
• Ensure the timely delivery of all client deliverables
• Ensure that timely communication of all internal reports is met
• Provide office based technical back-up and support to on-site engineers
• Ensure that Project Quality Management processes are adhered to
• Fully participate in activities that assist the development of the Engineering
What do I need to qualify for this job?
• Relevant engineering qualification in Civil Engineering discipline (essential)
• Civil Engineering background, with demonstrable rail experience (essential)
• IOSH or CITB site management training or equivalent (essential)
• Ability to manage a number of teams and plan ahead to maximise outputs (essential)
• Must be willing to travel and lodge away from home depot to meet the operational needs of the business (essential)
