As part of the continued expansion its services to the financial services sector, PwC is investing in the further expansion of its Financial Services UK Delivery Centre based in Belfast. The Delivery Centre provides a range of services to clients, helping them ensure compliance with internal and regulatory requirements through the provision of redress and remediation support and a range of other 'managed' services.
This is an important strategic investment for the firm and we are looking for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to help build upon the existing operations.
Working with our multi-disciplinary team, consisting of compliance, regulatory risk, data and operations specialists, the COO will lead the development and execution of PwC's strategy to develop the Delivery Centre. This leadership role entails responsibility for all day-to -day management decisions and will involve reporting directly to the partner charged with overall responsibility by the PwC UK Board for the development of the Delivery Centre. In particular, the role will entail the implementation of large redress and remediation programmes and the development of 'managed service' support across both back and mid office functions, involving competencies such as data and technology, accounting and finance, legal and compliance.

About the role
We are looking for a COO who can as an integral part of a senior team, lead, develop and execute the growth plans for this part of our business. You will have ample opportunity to develop yourself professionally within a fast paced, ambitious environment. Working within a regulated environment, you will have to stay abreast of regulatory developments and future trends impacting the financial services sector and therefore likely to have an impact on the market opportunity and work of the Delivery Centre.
As COO, you would be responsible for the following:
Profitable Growth
• Creating strategic and operating plans for the Delivery Centre
• Developing and monitoring strategies for ensuring the financial viability of the operation
• Helps develop service propositions
• Contribute to the identification and development of sales opportunities, including efforts to win new business
• Define and develop the required infrastructure for the Delivery Centre, including facilities, technology and team
• Promotes a culture that reflects PwC's purpose and values
• Recruit and manage the resources of the Centre in line with PwC's personnel policies and procedures
• Encourages and promotes a positive and supportive culture of learning, development and exceptional performance within the team, recognising and celebrating successes
• Assumes responsibility for talent management, matching skills and experience to projects, filling skill gaps and developing a framework which allows for retention and continued attraction of quality talent
• Develop future leadership within the Centre
• Responsibility for the design, delivery and quality of projects
• Responsible for senior level client liaison
• Maintaining responsibility for risk and regulatory compliance, ensuring that our services are always delivered ethically and lawfully
Operational Excellence
• Responsible for the further development of the Centre's infrastructure • Oversee all operations and manage compliance with legal and regulatory requirements • Provide prompt, thorough and accurate information as to the performance of both specific projects and that of the Centre more generally

The role will be based in Belfast; however as a result of the wide variety of clients and projects, you may be required to work in other locations within the UK and beyond, sometimes at short notice and sometimes over lengthy periods of time.
RequirementsEssential skills and experience:
• Proven ability to operate at Board level and deal confidently with Partners (internally and externally); demonstrating strong commercial acumen. • Experience of having operated in a senior operations role (8-10 years), responsible for leading large teams; managing budgeting, resourcing, billing and compliance • Visionary leadership, professional, confident, with the ability to work under pressure. • Senior experience within the financial services, ideally within retail and/or investment banking • Experience in building internal and external relationships and networks • Drive and determination and experience of having developed a new business start-up, proposition and/or team • Developing and implementing growth plans • Excellent communication skills, specifically in negotiating with and influencing others
· Monitor financial performance, assessing against growth plans and implementing necessary adjustments for continued commercial benefits
• The ability to mentor other members of the team and support their development; respecting and valuing all people and encouraging different perspectives • Knowledge of regulatory developments driving the industry and key issues affecting regulated firms so as to anticipate and understand the impact of such developments on clients and therefore market opportunities
