CEE Regional Senior Actuary

AEGON CEE B.V., Hungarian Branch Office has the following position vacant:

CEE Regional Senior Actuary

Location of Position: Budapest, Hungary

(The job requires some – although not a lot – travelling: approx. 1-2 days in every 3 months to CEE countries.)

Job description, tasks:

  • involvement in all actuarial activities related of the Aegon subsidiaries in the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region, reporting directly to the Chief Actuary of the CEE region
  • participating in quarterly actuarial reporting activities towards the CEE regional management and Aegon NV under several financial frameworks i.e. IFRS, Market consistent internal framework, Solvency II  – review, challenge and consolidation, presentation to Regional Chief Actuary
  • review and challenge of actuarial assumptions of the CEE country units
  • participating in the review of the market-consistent pricings of all new products in the region
  • participating in planning and budgeting process – with respect to review and consolidation of actuarial valuations, projections
  • assist country units with standardized implementation of new actuarial methodologies – particularly related to actuarial valuations
  • support in preparation of actuarial guidelines towards the CEE country units
  • monitor and ensure compliance with Aegon Group and CEE regional actuarial guidelines. Discuss and resolve potential issues, questions with the country units and with Aegon Group
  • keeping contact with colleagues of Aegon NV (Global Headquarters) and some of the Aegon CEE Country Units related to actuarial matters
  • ad hoc review of actuarial calculations based on management request,  – e.g. involvement in valuations for M&A purposes, preparation of management information reports


  • good technical/content understanding of actuarial topics
  • exposure to market consistent principles, Solvency II will be a plus
  • good understanding of insurance products and markets; knowledge of the CEE market will be a plus
  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • good command of English
  • ability to work independently, as well as in a team
  • able to deliver practical solutions when faced with complex questions
  • good problem solving and decision making skills
  • good coordination skills
  • accurate
  • knowledge of any actuarial software is a plus 


  • university degree in actuarial science and/or mathematics
  • at least 3-4 years of experience in actuarial or risk management role
