Business Development Manager Pharmaceutical Services - Central Europe (DACH)
Intertek Life Sciences is a Global Business Line of Intertek Group which continues its expansion by permanently developing and strengthening its services to its international customer base. The Laboratories of Basel - Switzerland are part of the global laboratory network of Intertek and provide a wide range of services across the pharmaceutical value chains, from R&D to production. The services include high level Analytical Testing Services such as trace analysis, structure elucidation or surface & nano-analytics, extractable & leacheables as well as consultancy. The laboratories are working under the quality standards of ISO 9001, GLP and GMP. Some areas are operating under ISO 17025.
In order to support our growth strategy in Central Europe, we are looking for a Business Development Manager Pharma.

Required background and skills

The ideal candidate will have:

• a university degree in Chemistry/Pharmacy or Biology with 3 to 6 years of commercial experience in selling services to the pharmaceutical industry - ideally with an background in galenic formulation.
• a large degree of initiative and creativity which is the primary job function,
• ability to rely on his/her experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals,
• strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• be a self starter capable of working autonomously and remotely,
• have in-depth ability to leverage internal capabilities to meet client needs,
• a good understanding of value pricing
• effective project management skills to follow through on client projects,
• fluent German and English, French is an added value

In addition, the position holder will need to have
• basic knowledgeable in finance
• proficiency with common PC based applications and specifically in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• knowledge in use of CRM

Role & Responsibility

The successful candidate will Responsible Business Development (marketing & sales) in Central Europe, especially Switzerland, Germany, Austria. In this role he/she will be in charge of :
• developing and preserving strong client relationships and proactively identifying outsourcing decision makers in assigned and/or targeted accounts
• managing contract proposals, definition of project scope, execution, coordination and reporting, in close interaction with the delivery units
• closing sales in a professional manner
• monitoring and challenging delivery units performance (cost of services, turn around time, etc)
• coordinating best delivery centres point for for service deliverie originating from other Intertek sites
• identifying new service opportunities beyond current scope of offerings.
• maintaining up-to-date awareness of company activities, industry trends & government regulations
• willinness to travel up to 50%
• Prospects and development of client programs to meet ambitious sales and profit objectives

In this role the Business Development Manager Pharma will develops and delivers sales presentations, conduct frequent client meetings. He/her will participate to technical & commercial conferences and trade show activities in coordination with the Intertek regional marketing & sales organization.

International Account Management
As part of the international business development team of Intertek, the position may include key account management activities. The candidate will progressively be in charge of coordinating global activities with one or more large accounts of the relevant industry sectors (pharmaceuticals, chemicals cosmetics). This includes:
• managing communication, pricing strategies, contract proposals across geographies and follow up of current projects
• Develop and nurture client relationships enabling new business opportunities
