Barnardo's Children's Services' is a significant employer in the charitable sector, with a wide array of caring, specialist staff and workers touching the lives of young people and families in communities across Scotland. We are seeking a Human Resources professional who can lead our People Team in Scotland with responsibility for all front-line HR and Volunteering support to our Scottish Children's Services managers and staff.
The role requires the resilience and professional assurance to be able to work remotely - and to lead and manage a distributed operational team delivering the full range of HR and Volunteering support required by Children's Services teams. This is a key and influential role, working as part of the Scotland Children's Services senior management team, reporting directly to the UK lead for the Children's Services People function in Barnardo's.
Qualifications/Experience expectations include:
-MCIPD (desirable) and significant, current and relevant expertise in Human Resources applied successfully to support organisational goals.
-Strong working knowledge of employment legislation and employer guidelines, and ensuring their day to day application in the workplace
-Team leadership within a HR setting, ensuring successful day-to-day service delivery and continuous improvement in operations
-Strong record of achieving effective organisational change and supporting senior management in major transitions - including familiarisation with application of TUPE in such situations
-Developing workforce plans with management, including succession planning, talent & leadership development and active performance management and coaching.
-Awareness of employer obligations and regulatory requirements regarding staff working in Children's Services and an ability to contribute to Policy development internally.
-Awareness of the approaches used to build significant levels of Volunteering
-Familiar in managing, and in being managed, remotely in a multi-site/multi-disciplinary organisation.
