An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Commercial team in Maritime Services - Product Delivery, for an Assistant Commercial Manager. Reporting to the Commercial Lead, the role requires a broad working professional knowledge and understanding of Commercial Principles, Techniques and Practices. This role is based in Portsmouth and will require travel in the UK and ad hoc international travel.

As an Assistant Commercial Manageryour main responsibilities will involve:

Providing first point of contact commercial support to a broad range of projects, as well as deputising for the Commercial Lead as required. You will be the lead commercial interface with our UK and export customers to ensure effective commercial management of our contracts. You will need to work with various functional representatives, project teams, customers and suppliers to meet the operational needs of line management and the business. You will also be required to support the preparation of bids for complex design and delivery programmes.

As an Assistant Commercial Manageryour skills and qualifications will ideally include:

Ability to work autonomously
Implement and manage commercial strategies.
Review, drafting, negotiation and finalisation of complex contracts and commercial agreements
Experience of working on complex bids.
Understanding of contract terms and conditions including UK MOD DEFCONS
Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to form strong relationships with customers and members of the internal team
Knowledge of Life Cycle Management and Commercial processes
Understanding of and compliance to Business Ethics requirements (Code of Conduct and Responsible Business Conduct)
Ability to co-ordinate with other departments and stakeholders to meet deadlines and targets
Strong business awareness.
Strong IT and organisational skills.
Responsive to the needs and wants of the customer by understanding their requirements, through researched understanding, open discussion and candid clarification questions
Knowledge of US Defence Federal Acquisition Regulations.
A key requirement is to be flexible to travel within UK and overseas
