Architectural Technician - London

The Architectural Technician is a hugely important role to aid in the exciting expansion plans we have for our stores in Europe.

Key responsibilities -

• Managing the store development external Architects resource and Design teams to produce feasibility studies for new TK Maxx & Homesense stores for TJX Europe
• Brief external architects on all store plans and prepare drawings where necessary.
• Review drawings to check that all design layout, brand principles and statutory regulations are met and original brief is followed.
• Continuously assess whether the best use of space, facilities and capital expenditure is being made.
• Factor into design - location of tills, fitting rooms, vertical circulation etc. in line with design guidelines for type and size of store.
• Evaluate the risks associated with projects at each stage and recommend and apply options where necessary to mitigate risks and provide optimum solutions.
• Publish weekly, an accurate project status tracker spreadsheet to the internal Architect/Manager.
• Liaising with tenant surveyors, landlords, approved inspectors, fire strategists and project managers to agree templates of corporate construction standards.
• Review pricing and present final scheme to the internal Architect/Manager for approval.
• Liaise with internal store design team in the co-ordination of merchandise layouts.

Key skills required -

• HNC or HND in architectural technology
• Proven experience in a retail store design and architecture environment
• Autodesk Autocad Architecture with Autodesk Revit experience, Adobe CS and Photoshop
• Experience and understanding of industry standards to include Scottish warrant, Irish fire certificate procedures and building regulation/permits.
• Ability to communicate with a wide range of people both internally and externally
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Experience of working in a fast paced organisation
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft excel
